Beard Weekly

Current Events

Our chickens are now four months old, which means eggs are incoming! Within the next month they should start laying eggs. We are going to build them a new coop and get them a bigger run here in the next few weeks, we have a few other projects to finish first.

I have also been researching quail breeds and have found a couple that will thrive in our area. So stay tuned to see those new additions!

Plus I found a rabbitry to get my bunnies! Now to wait for them to be born. They will be arriving this summer. And we are all super excited. Well the kids and I are, the financer is just going along with it.

One of the modifications to the run will be a small chicken safe garden that will be planted under this pallet, the pallet (which still needs a wire top) will protect the plants. Chickens like to scratch and will damage anything growing in their run, this will allow the plants to grow, they will be able to eat the tops of those plants but not kill them. There is space all around the pallet for them to scratch and take dust bathes. The chickens will also be allowed into the main yard (when we are outside) so they have plenty of space to be chickens.
